When Theresa Mondeaux created a fire arm for longer range use

Theresa researched hand-held fire arms and found that while good at short range, long range firing didn't work, but found that creating small grooves on the inside of the barrel helped conserve the force by applying a spin to send the bullet farther. The process became known as 'rifling' which means scratch in an old Nordgardian tongue as a nod to the Nordgardian Inventor of the Matchlock, Lakron Potts. The first matchlock using rifling had an extended barrel and was held by two hands. This type of fire arm (one held by two hands) was then named a rifle.
