Cauta

Cauta is a densely populated fortress city on the outskirts of Sanguine, residing on the border of the Kingdom of Edea and the Wintercrest Dominion. It is an old city, dating back hundreds of years to the times when border posts were set up to watch over the expansion of the northern states. Now, the city sees an influx of tourists and merchants bringing goods through to the kingdom, giving the city a diverse character and a dynamic culture, ever changing and shifting as the particular trends and state of the world adapts.
The city is made up of six districts, the oldest being Northcrown and the Silver Palace. These were the districts within the initial walls of the city, making up most of the first residential and crown guard presence. Over time, these districts have developed, opening up to large amounts of industry and markets, as well as two large libraries and a chapel.
As the city expanded, and more peoples began to flock to live there, the Ironhills and Pilgrim's farms grew, with bakers, farmers and craftsmen moving into the large and beautiful townhouses beyond the walls.
As trade between the Wintercrest Dominion and the City grew as more demand and supply moved in, merchants, innkeepers and tradespeople able to make money off the influx of traders and travellers from the north began to set up beside the various jetties and dockyards along the coast of the Malthusa River.
The Gold district was set up during the expansion, as political power began to decentralise into the cities and towns of the Kingdom. The district is home to the central town guard, where the officer resides, as well as the Earl of the city.
