Dr. Qhasrel
The Maniac with a Medical Degree
The mad but brilliant Dr. Qhasrel was the head surgeon at Hemlock Asylum, infamous for his crazed experiments on cynic, misbehaved patients under instruction of the warden, Mister Kister. Fascinated by neurology and the inner workings of the mind, Qhasrel applied to work for Kister shortly after his species was driven back underground following their defeat in the Wars of Xandria. There, in its underground hospital facility, he worked under the warden, operating on and punishing the patients of the asylum whilst also beginning his own manic experiments, tapping into peoples' brains to learn more about what made them tick. His methods were invasive and unnecessarily violent, earning him great infamy within the twisted corridors of the asylum. Eventually, he learned and harnessed the secret behind consciousness and designed a dream world in which he was a God-like figure that could manifest inside of the minds of his patients, haunting and tormenting them into submission.
In the growing years, he reckoned himself untouchable, and as megalomania developed, he would experiment, cloaked in shadow, to quench his festering hunger for power. With this, he also became audacious, toying with those who would stumble into the asylum before brutally torturing them in his chamber. Made nearly immortal through the magics of the demiplane and his dream world, he continued his work for centuries before his arrogance caught up with him in the form of the Masters of the Nine Elements. Initially, he managed to invade their minds, breaking them down with their deepest fears as he usually would, though their combined will proved to be far too strong for his own, and they ended up breaking out of the constraints of his dream world and overpowering him. Qhasrel was killed by his impetuousness and insolent belief that he was in control, serving as a reminder that nobody, not even those cursed with manic genius, can play God.
