Where Nightmares are born

Hemlock Asylum is a demiplane contained completely within the aptly named Hemlock Alley, found in the East Ward of Sota. The origins of the asylum are unknown, but it is documented to have existed for at least five hundred years, though in speculation this figure can surpass a thousand. In its lifespan it has become one of the city's oldest urban legends, to the point where it has been integrated into its culture. It is taken as fact that the position of the alley shifts every night, and it is rumoured by many that any that walk that blue cobbled street alone disappear without a trace.
The warden of the asylum is a man cloaked in a similar amount of mystery: an entity only known as Mister Kister. He is reported by the few survivors of the asylum to be a cruel, unfeeling man driven only by a lust for order and control within his walls. Staff of the asylum are few and far in between, with the only documented employees of Kister being two unnamed matrons and his lead surgeon, the Mind Flayer Dr. Qhasrel, who punishes and mutilates the inmates under Kister's cruel word. So far, only three patients have ever been said to escape in its entire history, though all died soon after of unexplained causes, leaving Hemlock Asylum shrouded under a heavy veil of darkness that nobody wants to lift.
