Elgen Isle

Elgen Isle is a tiny island off the western coast of Σu'ryxia, best known for its exclusive mineral Arcstone nestled just below the surface. The island is mostly flat plains with a sprawling forest in the centre. Most of the island is uninhabited by humanoids except for a nameless village of around 700 within a few hours walking distance from the eastern cliffs. This village is fairly primitive, housing only a basic market, a town hall, a magic school and a single lonely tavern. All of the industry of the island is down in the Arcstone mines or around Elgen Docks (all funded by private companies based in Σu'ryxia and Alcyrne hungry for Arcstone. The climate is fairly rainy, with high air moisture and variable season temperatures, making the island sustainable agriculturally.
What hides deep beneath the island, however, lost to the sands of time is a planar gate, overrun with extraplanar entities from Byrexior. It was forcefully destroyed after the Wars of Xandria but many fear the portal can be reactivated, which could spell doom for Avaløn. The islanders believe this portal to be connected to the ongoing epidemic of the island, Aura Sickness.
