Session 5: Ablefell Report
General Summary
The players made their way into the Mesilist occupied city of Ablefell. As they walked through Southside, the southernmost district, they party located a tavern that they could rest in. Meanwhile, Dal recalled an old memory from his past and entered a shop named Irvine's Vineworks to find out more about why it felt nostalgic to him. In the tavern, Averel immediately demanded payment off of Yulia Sedan, who told him to wait until they had rested. Persistent, Averel asked again and was rewarded with a slap to the face. What followed was disgusting to say the least. Averel punched the old lady square in the face and started an all-out brawl in the middle of the bar between himself and Elric. Eventually, Elric and Yulia left without paying the fee for escorting them to the city.
That left the players wanting to do some guildwork to earn money so Averel and Tony headed off to the entrance of The Faceless Guild, closely tailed by Rostliem, to meet with the head of inductions - Gideon Beauregarde. There, the two newbies are told their first assignment - each of them was to murder someone. Armed with the task at hand, they set off to Ravensbrook village - the poorest area of Ablefell. Tony managed to kill two men by slitting their Achilles tendons - leaving Rostliem with none. Averel and Tony later went on to kill another target of the Faceless Guild for Gideon, breaking into his home and discarding of his body through a dimension door - leaving Rostliem to clean up after them and drag bodies to the Outer Heaths.
Kairon instead applied to The Royal Society of Augury by visiting St. Briar's Academy in the Arcanist's Farthing. He bought a membership that allowed him to access the school's library and was told how to begin getting work from the faction. After meeting with his contact in a magical tavern, he taught a class of seventh year students in the academy who knew more magic than he did and got absolutely thrashed in a game of Rugo. Around this time, he also beat up an Ogre running rampant in the streets and pinned the fame that came with it on Averel.
On his own little quest to find out who he was, Dal made his way to Ablefell's History Museum - where he discovered that his family were residents of the city over 500 years ago. On a file were the names of his parents: Dal and Yvonne Silverfrost, and presumably his name aswell: Donevan. According to the record, they left to the elvish town of As'cadel after his father killed someone in a barfight. Rostliem again infiltrates the undercity in the form of a rat in Averel's pocket, where he sees that Averel and Tony have taken another bounty and have purchased very illegal weapons. Around highsun the next day, the party meet back up to find this next target, only to be ambushed themselves by Faceless Guild members. Gideon appears and tells them a cold hard truth: someone really wants Averel dead.
