The Seat of the High Scholar

Thou shalt maketh me a host, to which no mortal hath ever seen their might. Henceforth they shalt beeth armed, with a force th’ likening of which th’ worlds will believe to beeth th’ holy, righteous, and glorious fury of their God smiting thee for their sins. This force shalt hath th’ will and ability to bring upon mine own antithesis a war, which will be won not in years, months, weeks, or days, but in mere seconds. Thou shalt buildeth mine host a citadel of th’ strongest stone, and th’ mightiest metal, so that not even time can breach its walls. And so… there shalt beeth a creation known by thee as “The First Creation” bearing 10 lineages, of which every warrior shalt separate and beeth a part of, for this host shalt not know or fear challenge for one lineage shalt conquer a challenge another lineage cannot. So mine own host shalt beeth brought forth from your hands, and in doing so, bring about an unparalleled age of peace under the command that is mine. Now go forth and obey the command of God and use th’ the knowledge God hath giveth unto thee to carry out God’s holy will!

- The Writ of Authority

The Seat of the High Scholar, a place feared and beloved by peoples all across Avanchizal, and for good reason. From its holy halls the Heverion Knights march forth bringing doom and death to the enemies of the Human god, but where there is war there is strife, for the Kingdom of Twilight has conquered much of the known world and it shows no signs of stopping. Fear shoots through the mind of any non-human who dares see the spire, for it is said their minds are not strong enough to handle the might of the Human race. This spire brings hope for humankind, because in the previous eras humans were enslaved, and were but dust to the ancient races of the world. The Impossible Spire threatens the heavens and demands obeisance from any ambassador that dares approach its ashen grey walls.

Purpose / Function

The Seat of the High Scholar was built by Arctulius sometime in the second era, but the exact date has been lost to time, Arctulius was commanded by the god of humans to make the tower as a representation of human willpower. It is said, that Arctulius had spent seventy days and nights building the tower and the city around it, and that the tower took fifty days to complete. It has served its original purpose well, for each High Scholar resides in this tower, and the spire can be seen miles away from Drek' Thylor itself.

Entries

The spire once had ten entrances, once for each lineage of Heverion knights, and each entrance would lead to the center room of ground floor; however, It is noted that elves once summoned demons in the lower levels of the spire, which prompted the High Scholar to close the other entrances, and a single entrance to the spire would be guarded by Heverion Knights at all times.

Alterations

Originally, the tower was a smooth spire built from pure Thakyrium and stone, but over time the stone was phased out and replaced with Thakyrium for its magical properties and strength. During the reign of Intens, the fourth High scholar, he had commissioned the building of statues to adorn the spire. Intens also had a statue of Heverion built in the square below the tower, and this statue would end up being as tall as the spire itself, but from the center of the spire a magical beam comes forth and pierces the sky. Priamus, the current High Scholar, commissioned several teleportation rooms in the under levels of the spire, but the purposes of these portals and where they lead are only known to Priamus.

History

When Arctulius created this tower all other races of the world looked upon it and knew doom, for the might of man had come, but they decided to ignore the new threat for politics and greed. From the building's dark halls came forth 10,000 soldiers each one mighty and equipped with weapons unmatched; however, the armies waited until Heverion's word was given and proper rituals undertaken.

The First Crusade

When the armies marched forth from the forges of Drek' Thylor, the world shook, and trees quaked, for doom had come to the world. This crusade had resulted in the loss of many non-human lives, because the knights of Heverion burned everything in sight, for hate flowed through their veins and they knew only warfare. This war ravaged the other kingdoms and the Kingdom of Twilight annihilated and assimilated many new lands into their growing empire. All throughout this crusade peoples across the face of Avanchizal saw the spire and gave it the name "Forge of World's End" due to the monsters and weapons that came from its mighty walls.

Arctulius hath toiled oft th' Citadel for 70 days and 70 nights, employing all th' willpower and ability he hath th' strength to commit. Using great magicks, countless slaves, and alloys found naught anywhere else. Just as his god hath commandeth so he hath completeth, for the unassailable fortress hath endureth it's very own construction. 'tis it was that on the morn of the seventy and one days Arctulius hath speaketh to th' lord "Your charge be completeth. And so shall th' city, whose walls time itself cannot breach, stand... Until your wisdom decides it should not be so!" - The Wills of Heverion
