The Saurian Mothership

The Saurian Mothership was the largest vessel ever made at the time (around 8 times bigger than the earth and with ~25x the livable surface area), designed to carry enough Saurians to establish a foothold anywhere. This was also the very same original ship that Emperor Aku Va’Kai built his fleet around when leaving the Saurian pocket dimension. For years it also served as the Saurian capitol in Avendora before Aku finally deemed ready to establish a new Capitol on the desert planet Sicaar IV (S-ih-kar), which was then renamed to Sauria. Aku still split his time between these 2 locations, that is before a massive assassination attempt by Broken Sword using a 10,000 megaton bomb to blow the mothership in half, killing many billions of people. Aku was not killed, but the Saurian Empire presented it as such for several years to more easily root out the perpetrators of the attempt. Both halves of the ship have since been stabilized, retrofitted, and sent back into service to execute whatever purpose the Saurian Empire should assign to them, though far fewer people now live there.

Purpose / Function

To act as both a refuge and colony ship for the old Saurian Empire to establish a foothold in the first galaxy the expedition was to come across. In its current state, the halves of the mothership are used as a residence for several billion people still, as well as a defensive option in the most dire of circumstances due to the planet killer mounted on the upper half. This would be a very last resort of course as it would put every resident at severe risk.

Alterations

After the ship was blown in half, both halves were made self sustainable and retrofitted to act as powerful military vessels and/or space citadels as well as thriving metropolises.

Architecture

The ship is by no means spherical, instead resembling a rough acute triangle with thrusters lining the longest flat side, usually flying in a wedge position to safely slice through space debris such as asteroid fields. The outside of the ship, protected by powerful force fields, is covered entirely in sprawling city. 3 more decks contain cities built on every surface, the gravity set in such a way that on any level but the first one could look up and see city above their very heads. The outermost layer contains a lot more slums and lower income living as it is the most exposed to outside threats, each successive layer of ship increasing in protection, value, and nobility. Throughout the ship buildings are built on top of buildings, connecting and running through the different decks of the ship to provide both access and structural support.

Defenses

Deck guns and missiles designed for orbital defense are perched periodically on the outer skin of the ship, as well as many docks to hold warships that can be launched on command. The center of the ship was fitted with a world-killing laser capable of destroying suns along with thousands of not millions of massive macro-batteries, missiles, rockets, flak guns, and many other armaments. Unfortunately the laser was destroyed in the assassination attempt that tore the ship in half. Secretly, the last statement is a lie presented to the general public to dissuade concerns of the morality of even possessing a weapon capable of killing a planet. Nor is it the only planet killer held by the Saurian Empire alone…
