Wingfish
Basic Information
Anatomy
These flat fish have wide, fleshy fins that double as wings, allowing them to shoot out of the water to soar through the sky for a short time. Their strong tail muscles allow them to build up a large amount of speed before breaking the surface of the water, which is when the larger fin/wings take over. Wingfish travel is schools of typically 25-50 but can sometimes number many more than that. Their small heads have equally small eyes, mouthes, and nostrils which are all capable of their basic inherent functions.
Genetics and Reproduction
Wingfish give birth to live young, interestingly almost always twins.
Dietary Needs and Habits
These fish thrive off of bugs on the surface of the water and also other smaller fish that will fit into their mouths, but by far their most common and favorite food are Nisaals. They will often corral schools of these much smaller creatures into a spiral before diving through their midst one by one, devouring dozens if not hundreds at a time. This is good, as without them the Nisaal population would likely get very much out of hand.
Additional Information
Geographic Origin and Distribution
While native to Pendoreldia, these fish have been brought to many other water worlds by the Atalanti Republic in an attempt to take care of Nisaal infestations, or at least keeping them under control.
