Loxodon
Another section of the Underoad was opened today. This one had obvious Loxodon markings as our local guide pointed out, suggesting this was a trading outpost between the Edrinia and Magdros Underoads. Couldn't look into it more because an Azador raid occured and nearly claimed their life. Right now, mining has been halted until Golomov recovers. Hopefully they can. These Loxodon have been a boon to the Underoad reconstruction. They helped do in weeks what would take us months to do.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Loxodon are large humanoid elephants who have the heads of them as well as the leathery skin. Their skin is tough enough to offer some defense against blows from weapons and unarmed strikes alike. They are also strong enough to carry more than their size would suggest.
Growth Rate & Stages
Loxodon physically mature around their late teens like Humans and Elves but aren't considered adults until their 60s.

Loxodon have a better sense of smell that puts them on par with Lunari when it comes to tracking, investigating, or perceiving things around them.
Civilization and Culture
History
The Loxodon first arrived on Edrinia not long after the Eternals beat back the Elders at the beginning of the Eternal Age. At the time, people were rebuilding so they paid no heed to these strange outsiders as they were probably people who were escaping from the chaos caused in other lands. However, that changed when their excellent stone work began to rebuild the lands devastated in that eldritch conflict.
It even caught the eye of the Deep Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, and Tykriels as they recognized these markings in Underoad structures they found further to the south. Scholars went to meet with these Loxodon and that's where they discovered that they came from a continent to the south of Edrinia, separated by the Great Ravine.
While the Dwarves and their ilk built the Underoads in this section of Avestra, the Loxodon were one of the species that built the Underoads in Magdros and Orelia. However, their section and empires would also collapse for unknown reasons and they were cut off from the other sections of the Underoad. While they have started to clear out portions in Magdros, they learned about the existence of people who also built similar roads in northern Avestra. The coming of the Elders stopped them from seeking them out until the Eternals arrived and some of them spread word of the other continents in the land.
Now the Loxodon are here to help rebuild the ancient roads that were once lost, potentially even discovering the other lost continents in the process.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Loxodon's fierce loyalty to those who are loyal to them have made them fast friends with Dwarves and Lunari due to the ideals of loyalty and honor in their different cultures. A Loxodon's focus on community can also be a boon as they can grow attached to specific groups should they share enough of a relationship. The Orzin version of Gnomes often butt heads with Loxodon as they are willing to spread their secrets freely to open up the Underoads when the Orzin would rather keep these secrets to themselves.
The Dwarves of Azador do not like the Loxodon because they want to open up the Underoads, threatening the safety and sleep of their god Stane and potentially damning Avestra as well. As a result, Loxodon guides are often targets for Azador raiding bands who attempt to make sure the Underoads stay closed.
