Tykriel
To the Orzin Council, I have been a proud member of the Holds for several decades and your aid to help me with my advancements have been tremendous help. However, I cannot call upon you anymore nor would I want to. The gross disregard for people's safety and the methods with which you use to experiment on the Simics and the Warforged is detestable. If not for the lives you sacrifice, for the sloppy and absolutely disorganized workings you've done. As such, I am tending my resignation. Several of my colleagues have decided to come with me as well. You may send your Secretkeepers after us if you wish but you'll find that we won't go down without a fight.Sincerely,Yarun Hasan-Orzrin
Basic Information
Anatomy
Tykriel are bipedal avian-like humanoids with feathers lining their body and sharp talons that serve as potent weapons. However, they have clear signs of non-avian traits such as noses similar to a Harengon, snouts like an Alomri, and a full set of teeth that an ominvore would have. Some Tykriels even have quill-like spines that can run down their back or heads.
Biological Traits
- Northern Tykriels are known for being hardier and taller than their cousins, even supporting larger coats of feathers to survive the rough conditions on mountains. Their ears are often drooped like modern dogs. They support a natural resistance to cold like Lunari do.
- Southern Tykriels are smaller than the other Tykriels to support their lifestlye in the depths of Avestra. Due to being near heat sources, their coats of feathers are thin and they have a natural resistance to fire as well. Their ears are often bat-like.
- Royal Tykriels are known for a strange affinity with electricity, able to generate it for small amounts of damage. Royals are known for their long, pointed ears.
- Due to there being little dimorphism between male and female Tyrkiels besides slightly smaller snouts for women, it's generally safe to assume women have tails that point up while men have tails that point down.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Tykriels cannot eat eggs but they can eat egg-based products such as cakes and other sweets. Royal Tykriels have an additional requirement that they cannot eat Durians either which has been found to be related to their resistance to lightning.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Due to their lives in the Underoad, Tykriels have the natural ability to see in the dark in shades of grey.
Civilization and Culture
Major Organizations
- Orzin Holds: Tykriels make up a large part of the Orzin Council and enjoy lofty positions in the region. They are viewed as the middle men between the Gnomes who are also part of the council and "lesser" races looked down upon such as the Kobolds.
History
The Dwarves built the Underoad and the Gnomes might have thought up some of it but Tykriels were the true brains behind its glory. They developed within the mountains and depths of Avestra, knowing them on the same level as the Dwarves did. With their hyper intelligence, it didn't take long for them to come up with a system for the Underoads. With the Dwarves, Gnomes, and other races by their side, they helped to carve the network of tunnels and the like that would connect all of Avestra for thousands of years.
During this golden age, it is believed the Tykriels helped with other advancements, even the creation of species such as the Simic Hybrids and Warforged with the Gnomes. However, all that advancement was lost when the Underoads fell into disuse and the Under Empires disappeared. The Tykriels were spread across Avestra and they lost access to the knowledge they once had. There are even rumors their intelligence was affected by this as while they are still intelligent, they don't have the same hyper intelligence ancient Tykriels supposedly had. But like the other Underoad races, they learned to adapt.
Some stayed in mountain holds, choosing to stay in the places that reminded them of the great holds they once had. Others left the mountains and spread into the lowlands, finding places for themselves as craftsman, intellectuals, and even warriors in some respect. They were quite vital to the war against the Elders but that made them targets as well. Tykriels were dominated in large numbers, turned into Aberrations such as Mindflayers or slaves in their original form.
Now with the Underoads awakening once more, the Tykriels hope to regain what they once lost and free their brethren still dominated by the Elders and their forces. And if they can't do that, they will document what they kind and avenge the ones they lost.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Tykriels get along best with the Gnomes as they can understand each other's ramblings when they go through their thought process. While Tykriels can fathom emotion, they have some issues not allowing logic to overwrite it and the Gnomes can help with that. Though the High Elves are another group who aid the Tykriels in that matter.
The Simics and Warforged often fear the Tykriels because of the few that dissected them but most simply wish to help them and learn about them as much as possible. As such, there are Tykriels who leave the organization known for these darker methods, forming independent groups to find these awakening species and help them understand the new world they find themselves in.
