We are the watchers of the Xi'jian sands. If you need passage, we will guide you as best we can. If you wish to stay, we will make sure you are accommodated in our cities and our land. But never wander the the deserts whether day or night. Do not search for what I'm sure you've heard about. We have lived in these lands for centuries. And we had soaked the black sands with crimson paint many times. If you wish to test us, you will learn what is like to die by Naga hands.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Nagas are serpents with the upper body of a humanoid. Due to their size, they are strong enough to bind and constrict prey to the point to where they are restrained. And their fangs have a potent venom in them that only gets stronger as they get older in age. Thanks to their venom, they are naturally immune to poison and being poisoned.
Growth Rate & Stages
Once Naga reach adulthood in their late teens, they never age further, only growing larger as time goes on. The eldest Nagas are quite large, able to match Goliaths in their size when they stand up straight or wrap around them.
Civilization and Culture
Major Organizations
- The Xi'jian Tribes: The Naga make up the majority of these tribes, living in the desert near oasises or living in the few cities nestled on the edges of the desert or in the shadow of the mountain. These tribes have the one goal of never allowing the Phoenix to be released ever again and to protect the land from any who would try to awaken it.
History
The Naga are residents of the Xi'jian desert, surviving the scorching of the Aerin Valley by a phoenix many years ago. The death and destruction of so much nature and life changed the Naga, even the ones who wanted this to happen. The Naga were one of the few species left in the valley and they spent that time hunting down any cultists who caused that horrible event to happen. After the phoenix was sealed, the Naga took it upon themselves to hide its location along with the Lizardfolk. Even as life returned to the Aerin Valley, they retreated to what was left of the desert and contained to watch.
Even as the Elders came, they fought against the ones that entered the desert but continued their watch in the region. But now the Naga begin to stir as another cult is pushing to find the phoenix and release it to burn the valley once again. Even adventurers, hoping to find this phoenix and kill it permanently, enter the desert to find the portal. With all these forces searching the scorched black area, the Nagas patrol in force, misdirecting and even attacking those who would try to unleash that elemental fury once again.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
The Nagas get along best with the Lizardfolk despite their enigmatic ways. Both understand the threat the phoenix faces and both are avid believers in the Xi'jian spirits guiding their actions. The Yuan-Ti are the mortal enemy of the Naga or at least the ones who still cling to their heretical faith. All other races are of little concern to the Nagas. They will help them through the desert as needed but if they prove themselves to be untrustworthy or a threat, they will not hesitate to deal with them.
