Anti-Magicians
The magics we've enjoyed for so long are not natural to our plane. It must be contained, if not removed entirely.
Overview
It's no secret that the Queendom of Lunaria indulges in the arcane forces of magic, sometimes to an alarming degree depending on which of their neighbors you talk to. Many in the Queendom view magic as a gift that ought to be used if one is to reach their full potential. While movement up the ranks is facilitated by consent, this consent is often entrusted to those who have demonstrated mastery of the arcane forces. Lunaria is a magocracy after all. There are others within the country who disagree with this state of affairs, some violently so, and they are called the Anti-Magicians. The Anti-Magicians believe that magic is just another scar left by the Great Collapse, if not the cause of that terrible event. That the only reason magic exists is because the laws of the material plane have been broken, its borders with other planes are crumbling. That to continue to indulge in magic is to continue to damage the fabric of reality. Therefore, it must be used sparingly if not banished entirely.Size of Movement
It is difficult to know how many Anti-Magicians there are. Most mingle with others within the large towns and cities of Lunaria, often trying to recruit more people to their cause. Queen Shava Lunaria has grown increasingly intolerant of what she considers a rebellious movement that seeks to undermine the security of her country. As such, the Queen's guards have increased their efforts to identify anyone professing Anti-Magician beliefs, and to detain them if they are deemed too disruptive to daily life. The Anti-Magicians in turn have become increasingly clandestine in their methods. It is believed that some have event ventured out into the wilds to build villages as bastions of stability against a world wrought with magics. However, some of the more extreme elements have begun to use terror tactics to push their agenda. All these factors combine to muddy the waters of just how much of Lunaria's population renounces or otherwise greatly limit their use of magics in the magocracy. The consensus is that it is still a small percentage of the total population.Beyond Lunaria's Borders
Similiar movements exist in other territories as well, though perhaps not as strongly as it seems to be in Lunaria. The second largest instance of Anti-Magician activity is in the Kingdom of Helia. What's unique in the case of the Kingdom is that King Vimak Helia III seems to be in no hurry to quash the movement. Some say that the King may use the movement to reduce the number of magic users in the common population of Sol thereby solidifying his own power and the authority of his high mages. Nothing has confirmed this suspicion as yet, but perhaps the day is young. The Free City-State of Centrum also has their share of Anti-Magicians, though they are usually quiet as merchants tend to be quite reserved about how they use magic. Some in Centrum have sought to monetize the arcane for their own benefit, and so seek to create the impression of scarcity. It is unclear if this will mean support or not for the Anti-Magicians in the long run.Culture
Common Taboos
The Anti-Magicians consider the use of magic without sufficient cause to be a grave crime against reality. They will deal out their own harsh punishments to anyone caught using magic in such a fashion if it is within their power to do so. The weight of the punishment depends on the specific group.
