Garden Town of Oazė
I had a vision of a verdant plot of land that defies this dusty desert. I have dedicated the remainder of my life to making that vision a reality. - Bardalm Juska, Founder of Oazė.
Overview
An Oasis that has acts as a waystation for travelers of the Dulkėtas Dykuma, and a home for the displaced or the unjustly outcast. It was founded by Bardalm Juska after he saw an image of it in the Mirror of Bardalm. Unlike it's surrounding region, the town grows many kinds of plants like grass, bushes, and trees. Some say that it could be an important city some day.The Great Well
When Bardalm Juska traveled to the spot his vision showed the future city to be, he discovered to his amazement a deep and plentiful aquifer. This discover was his confirmation that a living city was possible in the dry expanses of the Dulkėtas. The first well he drilled is of special significance to the city. The well is the largest in the town and it is located directly underneath the city's central hanging garden, which it nourishes with its seemingly endless supply of water. As this well is important, the city employs highly trained and highly compensated guards to keep constant watch over it.Feeding the Artificial Oasis
Oazė does not have farmlands immediately outside the walls like other cities. It would be prohibitively difficult to maintain such gardens against the dust and tumbleweeds of the Dulketas. One of the first things Bardalm did during the town's early days was to oversee the construction of a large structure that is dedicated to hosting the hanging garden. It is said to be the largest of its kind anywhere on the continent and it is the dominant feature of the city. The hanging garden has since fed the growing population of Oazė. The gardens have since expanded to other buildings in the city, and these expansions have given the town its startling yet beautiful verdant appearance amid the surrounding dusty desert.Ring of Bardalm
When Bardalm founded Oaze, he used his ring to create a magical barrier that could protect the fledgling city from the dangers of the Dulkėtas Dykuma. The ring was an heirloom of his, and shortly before breaking ground for the new city he discovered that its gemstone was actually a Schutz Crystal. The ring has since been the source of the city's protective barrier against storms of all sorts, especially Magic Storms.Defences
Oaze is defended by a wall with gates as well as the standard magical barrier. The magical barrier is powered by Schutz Crystal. Along the wall are watch towers that allow the settlement to spot anyone approaching the city from far away. The walls have been designed with slopes, crenelations, and murder holes for optimal defense. Bardalm insisted on including these features in the plans drawn up for the wall.
Industry & Trade
While the hanging gardens are considered the city's most impressive feature, it's main industry is in its nearby mining endeavor. The Mirgėti Mines produce high quality gemstones, much of which are purchased by the Queendom of Lunaria. As a rule, the miners are told to never dig down for fear of contaminating the aquifer that keeps the city alive.

Note(s) from the Archivists
It was such a shock when passing through the main gate of Oaze. One moment you are in a barren and dusty landscape and the next you are walking among trees. - Archivist Rena How do they deal with the the dust that should get over their walls? - Archivist Edward I think they keep their Schutz crystal powered just enough to keep the dust at bay. - Archivist RenaRemove these ads.
