Rock of Fortune or Doom

Be very mindful of where you pass the rock. It could determine your ultimate fate!
— Rem Greentree, Farmer

Overview

This seemingly unassuming rock is considered by the local village to have a special connection to the fate of anyone wishing to pass it. Why would someone wish to pass it? Because behind the rock is a water spring of clean water- the Atnaujinimo. Drinkable water is difficult to come by in the Dulkėtas Dykuma, a desert.   When one wishes to pass it to drink of the Atnaujinimo they must choose which way they pass the rock, and to do so wisely. Passing the rock on the right side will bring great fortune. This can range from finding true love to stumbling upon lost treasure. Passing the rock on the wrong side will bring doom upon the unfortunate soul. This can range from losing a family heirloom to losing one's life.   As for which side is right or which side is wrong- that is unique to the person. Many are encouraged to consider every sign before deciding on how to pass the rock.

What Does the Rock Look Like?

It looks like a small, sand-colored and featureless boulder. It is quite irregular in shape, and the smoothness of its surface is said to bear little difference to the surrounding rocks. It is, in fact, quite an unremarkable rock in appearance. As for how it can be identified from its environment, it lies right in the middle of the only clear path to the bubbling spring behind it. The spring is surrounded by a craggy cliff but for one clear opening upon the north side.

Origin of the Superstition

It is said that Bardalm Juska, the found of the Garden Town of Oazė had made a fateful mistake concerning the Rock days before his untimely death. He had not heeded the warnings about the rock from a seer, and would seem to have paid the price for his carelessness.

Does the Rock Give any Hints?

  No. It does not.

I traveled this far to find some water only realize that I'd stumbled upon this expressionless and nameless [word illegible- was scrawled in great anger].
— Artur Neha, Traveler

Does the Rock Have a Name?

The rock has no name. No one dares to name the rock. Many believe that to name the rock is to bring the rock's wrath upon the namer. Some say that the rock has a true name and that it will be kind to those who can guess it.
