Valtava Mountains

Overview

The central mountains of the Continental Island of Lluvia, which are also the tallest for the continental island. Their dark grey look can be an imposing presence for those unfamiliar with the sight of them. The mountains can be clearly seen from the Radiant City of Sol more clearly that the western Silver Mountains.

They say that one should avoid traveling the deep northern valleys of the Valtava Mountains in winter. I have heard plenty of stories about unspeakable horrors.
— Artur Neha, Traveler

Valleys of Winter Darkness

The mountains can be so tall that during the winter months entire valleys remain untouched by direct sunlight. These places are often the coldest and generally remain uninhabited. At least that's the widespread belief. Some have come to believe that monsters have taken up residence in the caves of these dark valleys. That during the winter, these monsters await for unwary travelers heedless of the dangers of a persistently dark valley with which to feed upon.   It is these valleys that have given the northern slopes of the Valtava Mountains a fearsome reputation during winter.

Vrvica Ruins

On the steep slopes of the Valtava Mountains are a series of old ruins called the Vrvica. These ruins are unlike the collection of buildings that define a town or city. Instead, these ruins appear to have been construction in a line winding its way from the base of the mountains up to the peak of Mount Zmrzal, the westernmost peak of the range.   These ruins appear too young to have been constructed by The Ancient Order. In fact, these ruins bear remarkable similarities to the ruins found on the slopes of the Evening Mountains. As such, some view them as a place where many hid during the chaotic years of The Great Collapse.
