Silver Mountains

It appears as a crumpled sheet of silver capped with snow during the midday sun. - Artur Neha, Traveler

Overview

This mountain range towards the south of Quassus was so named for its silvery appearance during high noon. It's metallic appearance is not entirely deceptive as mines constructed into the sides of the mountains have produced an unusual amount of metals, particularly in the west where the Queendom of Lunaria lies. There is a massive Ancient Dwarven Mine to the eastern side of the range, the Dehur Kjol, which was discovered by Princess Dalia Skyfire in 898AGC. This massive mine is indicative of the Silver Mountain's seemingly endless supply of metals and minerals.

Geography

Mound of Silver

Some initially believed it to be made of silver and other kinds of metals as opposed to rock. The basis for that assumption was that it was once a massive Ancient Order metropolis that was melted during the Great Collapse. Expeditions over the mountains revealed that it was not a massive mound of silver and metal. It only appeared that way due to a kind of metallic dust that lightly coats the surface in places.

Metallic Dust

Passage over the Silver Mountains requires some preparation. A piece of cloth or a protective spell is needed to keep out the metallic dust that lightly coats the slopes of the mountains.   How this dust came to be is of some debate. Some say that the very mountains themselves have always produced it considering the high concentration of resources that exists in the range. Most believe it to be another remnant phenomena of the collapse. While the assumption that this was once a massive metropolis was incorrect there could have been other kinds of settlements. These settlements having been literally reduced to dust during the cataclysms of the collapse.

Note(s) from the Archivists:

I brought some of that dust back from the Silver Mountains. Haven't figured out what I want to do with it yet. I'm either going to make some kind of paint with it or I'll bring it with me if I ever get a magical tattoo. - Archivist Enna
