Dracone Terrara

Etymology

Dracone Terrara means 'Dragons from the Land', due to their appearance being creatures typically scaled in colour like the region they dwell in. 'Terre' in the Old Tongue means land or surroundings (typically used in a manner like the words it spawned like 'terrain' or 'territory')

Subspecies

There are five main subspecies of Dracone Terrara. They are Red, Black, White, Blue and Green. There are others, though they are fewer in number. There are, however, more subspecies for Dracone Terrara than their benevolent counterparts, the

Dracone Ironara

(Dragons from Metal).   There are recorded instances of Dracone Terrara in Brown, Purple and Grey, with even further rumoured.

Traits

All dragons are said to have descended from the Primal Dragons that helped forge the world in the earliest days. The Dracone Terrara are the ones who accepted the influence of the fallen gods or devils, depending on the story. Dracone Terrara are generally evil and/or power-hungry. Often a driving factor in the motivations is a desire for destruction and to gain notoriety. However, there are more cases of defected or just simply neutrally aligned Terrarae than Ironarae, which are mostly all good.   Dracone Terrara tend to have lairs. It is said the Terrarae hold some ability to impose their innate natural power onto their surroundings, changing it to match their preferred. There is evidence for this claim within history, most recently with Krythana - a White Dragon - who froze over the Elven city of Falerond just with her presence during the Cataclysm Wars.   It is rumoured, though never proved or witnessed, that dragons, in general, possess the means to transform into humanoid form if they so wish and this might be the reason for their occasional long absences from mortal eyes.
