The Order of Dragons
Origin
No one knows the absolute origin of The Order of Dragons as it existed prior to the great knowledge purge that defines the start of the Age of Discovery. It is mentioned in the earliest documents of the time in the Old Tongue as Ord ol'Dracone. Whilst 'ord' is a Dwarvish word, the full translation into Dwarvish would be Ord Drakon, as Dwarves don't use 'ol' or pluralisation in their language so it is unknown whether or not the Order began in any singular culture.Beliefs
The Order of Dragons doesn't worship any one individual but rather the theorised contributions of the Primal Dragons in creating the world and the work of their benevolent offspring, the Dracone Ironara, in fending off major dangers that have threatened the world since. As such, their core beliefs are not dissimilar to those that follow gods connected to the natural world. There is a large focus on looking after this world that the Primal Dragons apparently spent their time moulding into shape. However, due to the metallic appearance of the Dracone Ironara, which are the targets of current worship, there is a materialistic aspect to the Order of Dragons in later ages. In theory, those two core aspects should be relatively at odds with each other and unfortunately, for some, the acquisition of gold, silver etc overcomes the desire to preserve. As such, The Order of Dragons finds a relatively high amount of followers amongst the noble classes of the world. Due to dragons and deities being separate, following the Order of Dragons does not preclude an individual worshipping gods as well. Typically, those that do are those that lean further towards the preservation side of the beliefs. They will also likely worship gods or goddesses like Cephione.Over the Ages
The Order of Dragons has held a reasonable following across the ages that ebbs and flows in total number with the presence of dragons in the world. Followers especially rise when there is conflict between dragons as Dracone Ironara attempt to stop the malovent Dracone Terrara. As such, The Order of Dragons has seen peaks during the Age of Conflict and notably, following the Cataclysm Wars.
