Hibiki

"Is it true..? That in the city above, people are free to go as they please, without the shadow of death... and such beautiful colors look over it all?"
Hibiki is the main character of Deicide. She is a half-Akagawan, half-Yuanjia human born in Fastid's season. Due to her Confliced traits, she has spent her life (as far as she can remember) in the Wastes of Kamishitai surviving off of scraps.

Profile

  • Calm, analytical, thoughtful, loyal, protective, durable, curious.
  • Hyperfixated, misses more obvious things, uncultured, uneducated.
  • Needs to find a purpose in life.
  • Wants to find a way out of the Wastes and discover the source of the strong colors.
  • Constantly fighting for her life; can't escape the Wastes due to a city mandate against the Conflicted.
  • Gets on by scavenging and fighting for food drops.
  • Quick on her feet, has keen senses for danger, and uses hand crossbows to take pot shots.
  • Thinks she remembers standing by her father as he fought someone, then waking up alone in the Wastes.
  • Secretly has a tattoo of a dragon on her arm that he can't remember getting- the emblem of Irev- which she hides due to Akagawans' prejudice.
  • Keeps a treasure from her father that she refuses to part with, even when starving. Looks like a golden emblem of Consecra. Has a fierce red, like the one she sees in the palace.
  • Has Fastid's Sight - she can see traces of spiritual energy that others can't, usually as colored ribbons or currents that change shape and color based on the individual and the source of their power. Allows her to observe the battlefield as if in slow motion, and gives bursts of precognition, but is hard to control.

Notes

She has a kind heart for someone who lives in the Wastes, and doesn't like to hurt people unless they wrong her first.   Her tarot card, the Fool, symbolizes new beginnings; free spirit and, if reversed, recklessness; taken advantage of; inconsideration.   Her favorite flower is the white rose, meaning innocence; silence; devotion.   In Japanese, 響 (hibiki) means echo; sound.   In the original draft of Deicide, Hibiki was a boy. So if she is referred to with wrong pronouns here or there, those are old notes that I haven't gotten around to fixing yet!
