Moon Knights
The biggest, land-wide, and most prestigeous militaristic Knightly Order of Az Barnuá and Mar Démista.
It was established somewhen in the Seventh Century, in the Mansion, Capritonne, Isle of Months. The document that refers to their establishment, though only the Supreme Commander, the Secret Keepers, and the King of Months have access to it, is the Declaration of the Moon Knights.
The Moon Knights Coat of Arms is round, white and silver, and formed by a dragon over a moon, crossed by a sword, surrounded by three dragons, blue on the right, green on the left, red hidden behind.
The Motto of the Order is Life of Service in the defense of all the land.
Their main Headquarters is the Mansion, but there are local headquarters in almost all isles, the most emblematic being the Esteltonne Headquarters and the Castle of Knowledge.
Their symbol, which they hold proudly and dearly, is the cloak, whose color identifies the Division they belong to.
Tthe Moon Knights were created with the main purpose of freeing the land from the threat of vampires, but they also have other duties, such as maintaining peace across the archipelago and keeping the citizens safe by chasing and arresting criminals.
All Moon Knights are able to return their brilhantus to their original dragon form and they perform their duties while flying on them. For this purpose, cadets are encouraged to join the Order as their brilhantus reaches its final form, while it is still easy for both person and dragon to learn how to control the soul-animal shape.
When it's proven that the cadets are responsible for their own fate, they may apply to become knights through an Order Admission Exam. Those who succeed at it immediately become official Knights, and start to proudly wear a cloak over their shoulders as a symbol of their honored duty.
From the start, the Order was divided into three division, according to their missions: Blue, Green, and Red. As the Order grew and the political scenery of Az Barnuá evolved, a need to create Sub-Orders emerged as well.
The knights responsible for security. Their duties include ensuring safety in the different settlements, crime investigation and arrest, front line combat against vampires, dark magic identification and containment, and order maintenance. They must be knowledgeable in weaponry, combat, law, and magic.
The color of their cloak is kyanite blue, as was the color of the brilhantus of the first Blue Commander Guilegniko Protection, Kyanite.
The militarist knights. They resemble a national army, though they answer to an independent Commander and not a Sovereign. Their duties include warfare, vampire combat, order maintenance, magic and weaponry development, settlement patrolling, combat assistance, and protection.

The elite of the Order. Only the best Moon Knights might be given the chance of joining the secret Elite. They are the spies of the Supreme Commander, and they’re shrouded in mystery. Despite most being Holy Moon Knights, they operate from the Base in Ariestonne, Isle of Months, and not from the Mansion. They are responsible for monitoring the sovereigns’ decisions and acts, keeping the land political situation stable, and enforce the Gods’ will.
Their cloak is red. Some believe it is because it was the color of their mysterious founder.
Those who follow the teachings of the Founding Supreme Commander Podron Lanus, and are thus the strongest and best prepared. Their headquarters are known as the Mansion, in Capritonne, Isle of Months, where the Order was first established. The Holy Moon Knights, marked by a white stripe in the hem of their cloak, are above all others in the Order’s hierarchy.
Those who are associated with the Alliance of Ellys and the Empress of Azberná, including the islands who follow their leadership. They exhibit a gray hem on their cloaks. These knights’ main headquarters and academy are in Esteltonne, Isle of Night, though every island has its own national base. Their Commander answers to the Mansion’s Holy Commander.
Those who follow Calaí Nanos’, the Lady of Darkness, commands, also known as Dark Knights for their black stripe in the hem of their cloak. They operate in the islands and countries that oppose the Empress of Azberná’s regime.
Exceptionally, these Knights do not fight against dark magic.

Therefore, the Commander-in-chief’s power is equated to that of the Empress of Azberná (governamental power) and the Supreme Judge (justice power). Even the knights under the Alliance of Ellys and the Restoration Sub-orders must ultimately oblige the will the of Commander-in-chief, whose commands are definitive in case of disagreement with the political rulers.
Such was determined to balance and contain the power of the Empress of Azberná and the Supreme Judge, thus avoiding abuse of authority. This way, the Order keeps the Crown in check through its knights and insures Law is abliged, the Crown keeps the Order in check through its citizens, and the Law ensures the Knights must obey strict rules.
