Casavar Hand Flower

A distinctive piece of jewelry, consisting of a gold ring attached to a bracelet by thin chains adorned with beads, the Casavar hand flower is only ever seen on the casting hand of a Sanguine Tower caster, or red robe. It is one of the few technologies that survived The Shattering, and the only reason the common people will tolerate the monarch having any casters in their employ.

During the Age of Magic, the Casavar hand flower was developed as a training device, able to curb the magical abilities of a student with little willingness to control their powers. Shortly before the Act of Solace of 237 AS, at the behest of the King, the royal casters looked into this technology, probing the only existing one from the Magic Age. They were successful in rediscovering the secret to creating the Casavar hand flowers. Armecite beads, made of a unique form of clay, have the ability to hold the imprint of a spell, causing it to last much longer than a single casting. A string of these beads, once fired to harden them, can carry a number of spells that are placed upon the person wearing one.

Utility

The Casavar hand flower as it exists today has one purpose - to contain casters. Poliran belief is that all casters are dangerous, possibly not even human, and must be dealt with. These hand flowers allow the reigning monarch to control the power of all the realm's casters, and direct where it will and will not be used. The beads on the hand flowers hold multiple spells of control, so that no caster can do magic without a direct order from a superior, and cannot remove the item, even though the bracelet closes with a simple clasp.
Access & Availability
The making of hand flowers is a closely guarded state secret. Only the most faithful of Sanguine Tower casters are allowed to create them. Every member of the Sanguine Tower is required to wear one.
Complexity
The main jewelry portion of the hand flower, the rings, bracelet and chains, are easily crafted by any competent goldsmith. However, the armecite beads that adorn the chains must be crafted by Sanguine Tower mages and then carefully fired so that they become rock hard and very difficult to chip or break.
