Sanguine Tower (SAYN-gwin)

In return for their service, casters will be provided with housing, sustenance, and all necessary provisions to live comfortably.
— Act of Solace of 237 AS
Outside of Vercour, in the foothills of the Draver Mountain range, sits the extensive complex known today as the Sanguine Tower. It is the central hub for the casters of Polira to live and work. Originally a single building, the King's, or Monarch's Tower, it has expanded to more than a dozen buildings, plus the outer wall, to protect and care for all the casters of the realm and provide for their daily activities.   The Tower got its distinctive name not from any building material or geographical quirk, but rather due to the fact that all casters housed there wear a livery of bright red robes, marking them as distinct. Likewise, the detachment assigned to their well being and safety also wear uniforms of the same shade, granting them the nickname of the Blood Guard.   The original structure was raised in 235 AS by order of King Gaetan. Whether he intended it to be used as a refuge for casters is unknown, but given that there is little need of a defensive tower in that location for any other reason, it is likely that he had considered all that would be required before he issued his Act of Solace, offering crown protection to casters.   Much of the building interiors are cleverly made of tiles of Ortesine, porcelain mixed with Ortesia dust to make them absorb and undo magic. The glossy green tiling is seen throughout the dormitories, cafeteria, and workspaces of the Tower.   The Tower is self-governing. The lead administrator and all of their appointees are casters, themselves. It is caster workmanship that creates the Casavar Hand Flowers that each caster is required to wear as a safeguard and as a sign of their loyalty to the Crown.   At its height, the Tower housed upwards of 250 casters, plus servants and Blood Guard soldiers. Over time, the number seems to be decreasing, although the Crown assures the populace that it is not due to a lack of zeal in locating new casters and offering them protection.
