Shadar-nir

Shadar-nir, also known as "The Shadow Planet", or "the Shadow Plane", or more commonly known as the Shadowfell, is the homeworld of the Shadar-Kai-kai.
The planet was characterized by ashfalls and nightly mists. Shadar-nir is closer to its native sun than Azure is to its own, but to counter this the ashmounts in the northern hemisphere near the pole pump ferromagnetic ash and gas into the sky to reflect heat back into the void. This decreases heat near the North Pole but the thicker atmosphere raised the temperature of the rest of Shadar-nir, turning it into an uninhabitable desert, known as the burnlands.
Few plants and animals survive on this harsh world. The ones that do thrive break down the falling ash, which help prevent the ashfalls from covering the world. Most plants have a black or brown color to them, so that they are able to use more wavelengths of light (such as green light, which is normally reflected) to compensate for the loss of light caused by the ash.
While the days tend to be hot, the nights are cold due to the rising nightly mists that lower temperatures.
While its astrological location pre-Second Fall was known to astronomers on Azure, the information was lost post-Second Fall. It is said that in the past, a powerful enough telescope or enchantment could be used to see this distant planet on Azure's nighttime sky, shining bright due to the reflective ash cover.
