Ezmerelda d'Avenir
Ezmerelda d'Avenir (a.k.a. Ez)
Shortly after arriving in Village of Krezk, you heard people discuss a woman in a red coat who arrived two days ago. This woman chastised the guards for not doing proper testing for monsters and gave the guards a list of things to look out for. It wasn't until you started exploring the Abbey of St. Markovia when you discovered your destined ally, and meeting your destined ally was certainly eventful.
Overhearing your arrival, Ezmerelda set a trap to figure out who was stomping around the Abbey. She performed a series of tests on you before she freed you from the trap. She seemed determined to set a trap for Count Strahd at the Abbey but after learning that Madam Eva's labeled her as your ally, she quickly gave up on that plan to join you.
Upon first meeting her, Ezmerelda was rather rude, blunt, and chastising, but she eventually apologized to you. It seems that Ezmerelda was frustrated with your lack of knowledge of monsters and has taken it upon herself to teach you what she can in order to help you survive. Giving you an undamaged copy of Van Richen's Monster Hunters handbook and Van Richten's guide to Lycanthropy, she seems to be an expert in her craft. Trained by Dr. van Richten himself, Ezmerelda is full of knowledge on topics of Vampires, werewolves, and undead. She has taken the time to ask you to examine the facts in front of you and determine what events led to the current situation. Whatever the future holds for you against Strahd, you are glad that you have an expert monster hunter on your side.
