Evie,
I hope this reaches you without issue. Things have gotten tense in Vallaki since yesterday.
Baron Vargas has proclaimed that today will be spent cleaning and mourning those we lost from the vampire attack. There is a town meeting set for tomorrow where rumor has it, the Baron will call for your arrest and the arrest of
Lady Wachter. He believes that Lady Wachter orchestrated the vampire attack and that you had somehow removed Izek by manipulating him with your "devil magic."
Lady Wachter, however, has been claiming that the Baron had sent his son to assassinate her. She is claiming that Victor used dark magic to destroy her mind and then kidnapped
Stella Wachter to... well things I am not comfortable writing about. Speaking of
Victor Vallakovich, people saw him cast a spell at one of the vampires that attacked yesterday. It caused an explosion that killed several people instead of the vampire and then ran away. No one has seen him since.
Evie, there is no doubt that Lady Wachter will challenge the Baron tomorrow during the town meeting. People are angry. They all saw that the Baron's forced festivals failed to keep the people safe from the devil. I believe that the town meeting tomorrow will turn violent, and now that Izek is missing, I am not sure where the guards will stand. Things are going to get bloody, which is why I am keeping Brom and Bray home.
Rumor has it; the Baron has this Reformation Center where those who commit "serious" and "extreme" crimes are sent to be re-educated on how to be a proper citizen. This re-education is done by mages that are loyal to the Baron. I don't fully know what they are capable of, but with magic on the Baron's side, people are going to get hurt.
This is not me asking you do to anything. We Martikov's know how to protect ourselves. I am simply letting you know what to expect. If you wanted to do something, your time is limited, but you don't own these people anything. I am also very suspect what Lady Wachter's plans are for you if she takes command. If what
Muriel Zalenski says is true, the Baron's son had nothing to do with the attack on Lady Wachter.
Please know that our door is always open for you, even if you need to slip in during the middle of the night.
Please stay safe,
Danika
