CASTLE RAVENLOFT

Castle Ravenloft, home to STRAHD VON ZAROVICH, stands atop a great rock which points menacingly up towards the dark and swirling skies. Throngs of bats can seen pouring forth from its spires and, it is whispered, sometimes Strahd takes the form of a bat himself and joins them in flight. Many believe that Barovia will never be safe until the evil that dwells in the castle is removed. 

THE HISTORY OF RAVENLOFT

Upon defeating the last of his family's enemies, Count Strahd von Zarovich fell in love with the beauty of the mountainous valley. Naming his new settlement Barovia to honour his dead father (KING BAROV) he decided to build a wondrous home and fortress and named it 'Ravenloft' to honour his mother, QUEEN RAVENOVIA.
