Marutuk
"Hail Marutuk! The son of the sun! Bringer of justice! Lord of pure incantations!"
Marutuk is the patron deity of the Sha'adi, and the head of their pantheon. It is said that Marutuk once ruled the cosmos from a city also called Marutuk; constructed of brilliant white marble in the center of The Sha'ad Wastes; an arid land of sun and sky. The River Rakkad and Luar flowed through the realm and the city, keeping it cool even on the hottest days. The Sha'adi believe that Marutuk paved the way for their civilization to prosper, and blessed their bodies to survive in the land of sun and sky where others cannot. It is said that when Humans first arrived in Barovia, the city of Marutuk ascended into the heavens with its lord, to make way for the settlement of the chosen Sha'adi people. There he is united with his divine father, the sun, and together they watch over and protect those who revere his name. The followers of Marutuk believe that he struck an eye from the Orc god Gruumsh's skull during battle, granting the Sha'adi victory over the orcs and driving them across the Luar River; securing the existence of The Asherai Sultanate."Marutuk appeared to me, then. I was overtaken by his majesty. He had the form of a man with red skin, four eyes, four ears, and four wings; covering his hands and his feet. Flames from his mouth came forth when he spake." -ša naqba īmeru 3:19
