Session 85: Scallywags: Uhmar's Last, and some Dragonglass

General Summary

Lady Sasha comes to the brig of the Call, and she asks her dapper friend Korgak for the key, but Chogim, another orc and loyalist to Brimstone, has it. He gives, and they all presume Lady Sasha will read to the prisoners at first, as she always does, but soon she asks for boxes and crates to be brought in the main room of the brig, and for each of the prisoners to be brought out to sit, still bound. Lady Sasha removes the gags, and Rhalihmn, Gindis, Satvic--knights of the Faces of the King--and Lady Sorcercenel and her broken, nearly insensate husband, Uhmar Rahum. They are broken, they are stained with tears and sweat and blood--of weeks being locked away from the sun's compassion and freedom's warmth.
She asks, Lady Sasha, who is the most expendable once they all sit, and after some anger, the Lady Sorcercenel answers with a point Rhalihmn, and at that, the yuan ti swoops and entangles, constricting the human, using his life as leverage for the others to answer: she needs details about the boats and military capabilities of the King, something they have keenly left out in these last few weeks. Gingus hides, his lost soul already broken, while Uhmar blubbers nonsensically; Satvic stands to Sasha, not acting, but standing defiantly for his own turn to come, his own death? Rhalimn tries to answer, but can't, for he is lost.

At this Chogim begins running to his captain, for surely killing these prisoners is not Lady Sasha's order.
Satvic is able to release his bonds, and he goes to push Lady Sasha from the doorway, but he can't, and he tries twice. However, in that time, Uhmar's sanity awakens, and he sees that there is no hope but the mercy of this crazed yuanti, so he begs for his wife and for Satvic to give in, to tell him what she knows, for she must know more than him. At the same time, Uhmar pleads for his own existence, and his promost to Aikhon, to show them the way through the waters of the King's way, but perhaps, the group does not need him as much, not now, with other connnections through Roland, the King arriving within 20 days, and even a new potential compatriot in Ollie who as been to the waters of the King before.
Nevertheless, Lady Sorcercenel needs to know what she will gain for revealing such information. Lady Sasha can only express the hopes that the Captain may finally release them at her request.
However, by this time, the Captain is brought in by Chogim, and he begins to ask his own questions, and soon the Lady Sorcercenel reveals the main seven ships of the king, many war ships, and how about a year ago he had more the 50 ships in his fleet, but they rarely are in one sea together. With this, the captain agrees, and Lady Sasha tells Satvic to find Padal--escape away from these Chronoloc Isles before King Boveen arrives.

With this, Roland takes Brimstone and Aikhon to his meeting with Garm, and his contacts from the northen, Regent Isles. After traveling to the eatern waterways of Feon, they find this old warehouse, and the dragons brothers can perceive that others are inside, at least six.
Roland goes to the door to knock, and Lady Messy brings a Master Jeff to help open and close the door.
Others finish unloading, and Roland has his coat checked to go upstairs, too hot for the upcoming work. They meet a Le Stanun, a witch of some sort, and Roland presumes a member of the Devil's Gambit. They talk of the price and goals, and some haggling and words from Aikhon to orient the price, 12000 gold, and they nevertheless agree. However, Le Stanun, Jeff, and her champion Steff will be joining on the voyage and will take residence in the guests rooms aboard the call. Aikhon agrees, but Roland and Brimstone wonder if when they mean guest rooms, Aikhon is really referring to the brig, which well, is now vacant. They nevertheless agree to return in about an hour with the 4 rowboats needed to carry the dragonglass to the Call. Before the leave, Roland does warn Garm of their intentions so that the noble contact can make sure to stay alive.

They do return, and Jeff, Steff, and Lady Messy are here, with a few others, so they get to work loading the large chunks, many weighing 500 plus pounds plus, most double that--so it does require the effort of all of these strong types. As they leave, Messy and Le Stanun mention two names they will share information to, obvious members to Roland, high members to his family's trade, the Devil's Gambit. Vegnath Meadowmourn, an informant connected to Master Beart of the Fives, and Reho Vade, a known greeter and ally to Roland's adoptive mother. After a few hours, they get it done, and the trio from the Devil's Gambit come aboard the Call.

However, while the dragonglass is being unloaded, Brimstone breaks away to tell Kevdae to prepare a meal for the new guests. He brings Aikhon with him, and even Horizon helps eventually, as Kevdae and they prepare a poisonous meal for their group, one only to knock them unconscious. Thankfully, Aikhon is able to brew a drow poison to be ingestible, and so the bacon potatoe stew is finished. They share a meal, and even Ilknar unknowingly, and Lady Sasha willingly, partake of the poisoned food intended for Jeff, Steff, and Lady Le Stanun, and after some banter and food, Jeff the veteran warrior is soon to fall asleep, and one would think Ilknar believes he is the cause from his jibes and cajoles before. Le Stanun then falls asleep later mid sentence, and Steff does think this would be odd at first, be the young warrior, soon realizes it is indeed late. He asks to be escorted to their rooms.
Aikhon and Roland lead them to the guest rooms, yes, one near the brig where Uhmar was but hours before, so perfectly converted, and then Le Stanun is taken to Roland's room under the guise that this will be her place.
Nevertheless, he lets them sleep for a few minutes, and then Roland wishes to talk with them to learn more of their reasons and connections to his family. And the others go to bed, for much needed rest after a long, long day.
