Salter is known as the Secret Taker, but he’s also known (and feared) for telling those secrets to those who aren’t meant to hear them. He’s said to do this in order to teach the lesson that keeping secrets is immoral; just as a salted garden will never grow again, a person who sees his secrets and lies unravel before his eye is supposedly deprived of the ability to hoard another secret.
The name “Salter” is actually a bastardization of his ancient name, “Salziér,” based on this comparison. It’s generally held that Salter doesn’t care whose secrets he’s stolen or who he leaks them to. This is mostly true, but Salter isn’t fond of causing massive disasters, and is believed to have actually prevented certain catastrophes by sharing his hoarded knowledge. Salter doesn’t have a very large following. His few clerics are not proselytizers, but rather are proficient spies.
