Personal history
Georgy was a Soviet cosmonaut who commanded the three-man crew of the Soyuz 11 spacecraft. They became the world's first space station crew aboard Salyut 1, but due to an airlock failure, Georgy found himself adrift in orbit around the earth as the rest of his crew reentered the atmosphere.
Presumed dead by the Soviets and abandoned in space, Georgy had all but resigned himself to death alone in the cold vacuum of space when another mind heard his anguish and came to him. The disembodied consciousness that came to call itself Zhi (short for Zhizn', the Russian word for Life) bound with the cosmonaut and was able to keep him alive far beyond when his oxygen supply ran out, and many years thereafter.
Over the five decades that followed, as Georgy's orbit around the earth slowly decayed, he and Zhi were each other's only companions, staving off the loneliness of their isolation together. That was until the day when Georgy's orbit decay finally saw him begin falling back to the earth, Zhi's power keeping him safe as the pair of them crashed down like a meteorite, being found shortly thereafter in a crater by members of Demeter's Harvest.
Disoriented, and with only a tenuous grip on the English language, Georgy was easily taken back to their compound, with he and Zhi needing time to recover from their ordeal. As the pair rested, Zhi's power began to leech out into the surrounding area, necessitating the creation of a sterile clean room as small amounts of brain matter began to bud on the nearby surfaces.
Eventually, the clean room was expanded and Zhi's brain matter had spread out over the area, allowing them to separate from Georgy and live on the walls of the clean room, with the cosmonaut staying nearby to keep them company, the two having developed a very powerful bond over the years.
They soon found out, however, that the members of Demeter's Harvest were secretly siphoning off a large amount of Zhi's ambient life energy, and using it to further their own agenda. With no means by which to defend themself, Zhi asked Georgy to help them enact a plan to stop the Harvest and their leader, The Reaper from using their power for evil.
Georgy started to encourage the Reaper to create ever greater chaos, knowing it would eventually draw the attention of the authorities. With that, they waited for him to overstep, not needing to wait long as soon he decided to stage an attack at the local zoo, attracting the attention of the B-Team.
After dealing with the chaos at the Bathala City Zoo, the heroes made their way to the Harvest's commune and, after defeating their guard, made their way into the clean room, caring little for the biohazard suits that the people moving in and out of the cavern had been wearing.
Georgy and Zhi simply laughed at the Reaper's expense as the heroes traipsed in, contaminating the brain matter that was now Zhi's own mind, knowing that whether or not the Reaper escaped, Zhi's fate was sealed, and their power could no longer be used for evil.
The Reaper was eventually captured, though the cloak itself disappeared, and Georgy thanked the heroes on behalf of the pair of them. He then proceeded to sit by and wait with his oldest and only friend as they slowly succumbed to the infection.
