Filaurel Rainforest

As the ancestral homeland of the Wood Elves, the Filaurel Rainforest is as rich in history as it is in plant and animal life. This relatively narrow strip of land, sloping gently downward from the Themulhir Mountains to the sea, boasts some of the most enormous and ancient trees anywhere on the planet, rivaling even the old-growth forests of the Antiqua Silvae and Les Forêts Jumelle. Despite being located on the equator, the Filaurel's elevation grants it cool mornings and nights. This, combined with heavy rainfall due to the weather effects of the Themulhirs, creates a semi-permanent bank of cloud which rests at the canopy layer and only burns off during the heat of the day in high summer, at the peak of the dry season.
