Vampires
Vampirism is a curse of blood. A curse that harrows its victims, turning them into mirror-mockeries of life. They become beings of pure vitality that nonetheless hunger for life's essence: blood. With that hunger comes power everlasting over life and death.

Vampires have a curious relation to the gods: They despise Macanóc, who stands for all they are not. But while they are creatures of darkness and magic and therefore of Galachna, they are also hunters - and in this one aspect, watched over by Cerawna. Still the full moon makes them uneasy, as it reflects just enough light to remind them of the burning sun.
The older a vampire, the less they are part of the living world. Their shadows and reflections fade and it is said that some ancient vampires even fade from the memory of those they meet in seconds - though that last one seems hard to prove...
While vampires are powerful creatures, folklore tells of their weaknesses as well: As creatures of the night, they burn away in sunlight. Holy symbols of Macanóc have been said to deter them as well, attributed to his connection to the sun. According to most legends, they cannot cross moving water.
Less confirmed rumours regard their inability to enter a house uninvited, their dislike of garlic and that if many small objects (such as grains or beads) are spilled in front of them, they have to count them before they can resume what they were doing.
