Resource Refinement

There are resources in the game which can be refined into better/more valuable versions of themselves. The three resources which this applies to are Wood, Metal, and Animal resources. These are represented by small cards detailing their type and refinement level.

For all refineable resources, there are three levels.

  • Raw - the lowest level, representing what has just been taken from the natural environment
  • Worked - the second level, representing a resource which has been worked with to make something better and more useable
  • Refined - the highest level, representing a resource which is a high quality useable product.
  • Raw materials can be found at the events in the natural environment through the Resource Gathering mechanic, with the appropriate skills of Prospecting and/or Wilderness Lore.

    Mechanics

Refining in Beyond Ragnarok is done at a 2-1 ratio, for each level of refinement.

    Time

Refining resources takes time. Players are restricted to coming in once every hour to refine materials up to the next level. The below is a breakdown of how to get the the highest tier.

    For example:
      1. Hour 1: Player A brings in 12 A5 field card to GOD and is handed their 'Raw' resource cards in exchange. Player A can go away and use those cards as soon as they get them.
      2. Hour 2: Player A brings back in their 12 'Raw' resources, and has them refined up to 'Worked.' They recieve 6 Worked resources. Player A can go away and use those cards as soon as they get them.
      3. Hour 3: Player A brings back in their 6 'Worked' resources, and has them refined up to 'Refined.' They recieve 3 Refined resources. Player A can go away and use those cards as soon as they get them.

    Quantities

Players are limited to refining a maximum of 12 resource cards at any one time.

This can be 12 Raw (into 6 Worked), or 12 Worked (into 6 Refined).

You can also combine, such as bringing in 6 Raw and 6 Worked, or any other combination equaling 12.

You can also bring in A5 field cards from Resource Gathering at the same time, as long as the maximum does not go above 12.

    For example
Player A only has 6 raw metal ore resources to refine up to Worked, and decides to go out and see if the can find some more field cards before going to GOD. Player A is lucky and finds another 6 Metal field cards. They can take the 6 Raw, and 6 field cards to GOD together, as they total 12.

    Through Trade

You can also gain resource cards through trade in game; either via other player characters, or via NPC's. Anyone in game can trade with these cards.
