Misha, Circus worker
Misha
Misha lives and travels in the most popular carriage of Madam Veehn's circus, The Food Wagon. One of the biggest vehicles of the convoy, it is wide and bulky, resembling a small rectangular house on wheels with a number of clay and metallic chimneys sprouting from it's roof and sides. Massive, scaled horse-like creatures pull the wagon and the smaller trailer hooked behind it during travel to carry extra supplies and foodstuffs. When stationed, a hinged panel on one side folds out to serve circus employees during off-hours and to serve circus patrons during performing hours.
Between guests and circus residents, Misha's eatery runs all day, every day. She and her three young children work happily and tirelessly to provide for the nutritional needs of everyone. They are not taken for granted, and most anyone within the circus will rush to help her with repairs or let her take their place in line to receive wages, partly in recognition of what she does for the benefit of all, partly in the hopes of earning an extra portion or a special touch on their next meal. The food is exquisite. Indeed, Misha has an incredible mastery of cooking in large part due to her profound knowledge of plants and herbs. Whatever she happens to have available to her, she is able to transform it into a delicacy.
She can be seen venturing out into the surrounding wilderness every morning at dawn, one of her children skipping behind her carrying baskets to be filled with whatever they manage to scavenge. Almost without fail one or more of the circus guards "happen" to be passing at that time and gladly accompany her. Misha smiles, thanks them so much, takes their arm and explains how much safer she feels with him or her at her side.
Misha is an attractive, relatively young woman with a soft, warm voice. When she is so often offered assistance, mostly from the men of the circus, she graciously accepts the help given, making the giver feel as though they arrived just in the nick of time to save her from a great deal of trouble. Her uncanny ability of making someone feel important and special is probably why a woman so young has already won five husbands, each one more wealthy and prominent than the last. Each one smitten by the sweet, young lady who seemed to take such pleasure in caring for them and wanted nothing more in life than to do just that and tend her herb garden. Alas, each marriage met a tragic end, the husbands taken by bizzare illnesses that doctors could not explain and clerics could not mend.
Her last husband was a high-ranking dignitary, and Misha was chased from their home under accusations of wrongdoing. She most likely would have met a tragic end herself had Madame Veehn not intervened to discourage her late husband's allies from seeking vengeance, or justice as they put it. Afraid of crossing a high ranking member of the Dawnfolk, it was agreed that Misha wouldn't be pursued for her alleged crimes and Madame Veehn's circus would not return to the territory in which they allegedly occured so long as Misha was with them.
Madame Veehn and Misha had an hours-long, torchlit discussion that night. The next morning, Madame Veehn introduced their new cook to the circus family, much to the delight of everyone, including Old Man Karl who had been her predecessor (because of necessity rather than any real desire to cook or any culinary skill - he had none).
Misha has been delighting the tastebuds of all ever since. Madame Veehn did order a very small greenhouse to be constructed on the roof of Misha's wagon and can occassionaly be seen visiting her late at night and leaving with a package 'to go' that she most definitely has no intention of consuming herself.
