High Earl
High earls are the five members of the Eremeran nobility who each rule one of the six constituent high earldoms of Eremere. The sixth is Thendanor, which although a high earldom is ruled directly by the king and does not carry the title of high earl.
The high earldoms and the high earls in 998 EL are as follows:
History
The title of high earl was created in 555 EL following Biddacrow's Conquest of Eremere. Before this, the areas that came to be known as high earldoms were ruled by chiefs, or in the case of the Rocklands, the Stone King. Biddacrow saw it unfit for these titles to remain now these rulers were under his authority, and thus renamed them to high earl. The office also changes, with the high earls losing much of their previous autonomy.
