King Midah I, in order to consolidate his power and cement his rule, founds a military order focused on protection of the nobility and loyalty to the king.
Formed in 578 EL by King Midah I of Eremere, the Order of Oris was created primarily as protection for the monarch and his family. It is named for Sir Oris 'Shellskin', a legendary knight who protects the gods. Brodicai's father had united Eremere and declared himself king. He was a strong ruler and a natural leader, balancing love and fear in appropriate measure. Brodicai, a new ruler, was keen to avoid being deposed and Eremere collapsing. Therefore, he created the Order of Oris, placing a capable and sworn knight in charge of the royal family's protection, while also sending out capable knights to defend the earls and high earls of Eremere. The knights, however, were ultimately loyal to their order and the king, and would often be used as spies or as leverage in later years.
