Queen Maria I, of House Syrincore, had married Earl Brandon Anders and had one son with him, of House Syrincore. Upon her death, Anders stole his son Oather's throne for himself, remarried, and passed the crown to his children of House Anders. Thus sparked the conflict.
Prince Midah, son of the exiled Prince Oather, was the second man to fight for his throne against the usurpers of House Anders. In 793, with the good luck surrounding King Brayman's death, he succeeded in overthrowing his cousin King Brandon II. He was responsible for the obliteration of House Anders.

King Brayman I, son of Brandon, dies at age 52 of the same illness that took his father, at the same age. These coincidences shifted the War of the Marian Succession in Midah's favour, as thousands viewed them as a divine curse and abandoned King Brayman's son Brandon II.
King Brandon II, who opposed pretenders Midah and Adair, is captured by the brothers and executed. His death marked the end of the reign of House Anders and the War of the Marian Succession.
After taking back his birthright, Midah died just six years later at age 62. Childless, he was succeeded by his brother Adair II.
