Behemoths of Akhana (Current Issue)

Legendary gigantic creatures of mysterious origin (“Kaiju”) are appearing with no known cause, apparently at random.

Legend also has it that some legendary item can stop them, but what it actually is, and its actual location is unknown. According to legend, that item was kept by the priest-kings of Akhana, practitioners of strange magic (maybe). The actual location of Akhana, if it even exists, has been lost to history.

 

Something is making magic unstable and chaotic (Current Issue)

There is an ancient prophecy that predicts that magic will become unstable and chaotic until a secret group driving that change is defeated. If they are not defeated, magic may well become completely unusable.

Unfortunately, it appears that the first part of that prophecy is starting to happen.

Invoke Examples

May be invoked twice per Scene, no more than once per character, by any character making a Magic skill roll for a 2-shift boost to that roll.

Compel Examples

May be compelled twice per Scene, no more than once per character, to impose 2 shifts worth of additional Requirements, Costs, or Side Effects on that effect's success.

  • Characters will have the standard number and types of Aspects:
    • A High Concept that sums up what the character is about—who they are and what they do.
    • A Trouble that defines what complicates the character’s existence
    • Their First Adventure Aspect, derived from their first true adventure (their first book, episode, case, movie, whatever — starring them).
    • Two Crossing Paths Aspects, erach of which is an Aspect they developed from being in a supporting role in a story involving another (randomly selected) character
  • The initial skill-cap is +4 Great; Characters start with 10 skills, one at +4 Great, two at +3 Good, three at +2 Fair, and four at +1 Average.
  • Characters start with 3 Refresh, and three Stunts
    Perusing the big list of Fate Core Stunts is not a bad idea
  • Characters will start with the standard Physical and Metnal stress-tracks, and two stress in each of those, which may be boosted by the Physique and Will skills, respectively.
  • Other stress-tracks may be available as a result of various Extras
  • Characters will start with the standard 2/Mild, 4/Moderate and 6/Severe Consequences (also bolstered by +5 Superb Physique and Will skills).
