The crew of the Linnaeus has been extremely busy.
Whilst the systems we have visited have mostly been only suitable for mining opportunities we have nevertheless come across a higher than normal amount of anomalies and interactions with species.
The Shackleton Expanse is proving to be more populated and dangerous than I think anyone expected.
Dojin and Tavor are currently not with us, working primarily on the cryogenics project with the lost avian species. This has left gaps in our science and engineering capabilities. Myself and Callie are attempting to fill in but I worry about a serious situation and our ability to deal with it. I continue to be concerned for the safety of my science charges.
We have however managed to cope with a damaged Borg cube, a kidnapping by inept bounty hunters and an untrustworthy aquatic species. Recently I had to pull off a rescue of Callie and Erica from the aquatic species, I believe the Klingons would call them unworthy opponents. I have included my side of the interactions within Erica's as usual thorough report.
Having run out of suitable planets in the D'Kot and Charlie systems we have moved to the Edo sector and immediately discovered what appears to be a Dominion base. We have successfully tapped into their ad-hoc communications probe and I await further information from this. We have avoided contact for now, I do not wish to risk the lives of my companions, but the Dominion will need to be dealt with sooner or later. I am pondering on informing the Klingon commander on Narendra Station, perhaps they might resolve the problem for us...
All out efforts so far have not found us a truly suitable planet that is not contested or claimed in some manner. The next three systems contain an M class each so perhaps they will prove fruitful, once the Dominion are dealt with. We can only hope.

This entry is long overdue. After a brief report back to the Speedwell we resumed our scouting mission.
We have scouted several systems but so far have only found suitable sites for mining operations. The D'Kot sector is rich in resources but so far lacking in a planet to settle.
Unfortunately one system contained communication signals and we investigated. Dangerous satellites were in orbit of the source planet. After Erica and the Felix robot were transported to the surface I was forced to descend planet side to recover them. After multiple encounters with drones that did not prove a challenge we discovered people hiding from the 'AI' seemingly in control of the planet.
After much running around and eventual communication our team managed to host a summit and establish some form of council for the AI and people to try and not kill each other. Perhaps a noble act but it has delayed our mission by some time.
Subsequent systems have continued to fail to give us a colony planet, but we have managed to retrieve an interesting buggy style vehicle from a crashed spaceship of unknown origin. Apparently it is from or was involved with 'Quantum alternative universes'' or some such. I was able to guide team members in working the power systems and computers. Thankfully the team was not distracted by the ship for as long as I expected.
As a bonus Dojin has shown great interest in adapting the buggy to increase it's capabilities. This is most pleasing, it will be a most useful asset. This makes up for any comments on my obviously skilful flight capabilities.
Finally we have encountered some form of dubious information trader. They do not appear to be much of a threat but I am watching them. With no knowledge of them I will remain suspicious until they have managed to earn our trust or show us their true colours.
The replicated meat on the ship is passable. I may need to ask the team for assistance in improving the quality.

Constables Log 1
After being assigned to the colony expedition led by the Speedwell I have joined the crew of the scouting vessel the Linnaeus. It is a small vessel but it flies well which is pleasing.
It is a good thing I am on this ship, my new companions are all of a scientific nature and I fear for them in a fight. My assignment is to fly the ship and as constable to protect my crew mates. They appear to be most proficient and will be needed to identify the best place for the new colony.
Our initial flight into the Shackleton Expanse has already been eventful. Some form of time problem in a nebula. Thankfully my expert flying assisted us in getting back to where we should be and we avoided a fight with some form of AI.
Upon our return to the correct time we discovered an old freighter. On exploring it we found an unknown species, they look to have evolved from a prey species. They did not fight us but they did beam aboard the Linnaeus and caused issues with our EMH and shields. I need to consider our security arrangements for further missions. We thought one might still be aboard but they seem cowardly and left before we set course for the Speedwell.
We have left the distractions of the nebula behind us and have set course for our first planetary survey. Apparently this one has signs of life. I have decided not to bring my rifle with me for now, we do not want to scare possible neighbours if we find this is a suitable planet, but I am doubting the first place we find will be 'the one', plus that would also be disappointing for my new companions who seem to take great enjoyment in scanning things.
