Edollic: Qapeis /qapheiːs/
Moon wine is a glowing, alcoholic drink made from the fermented fruits of Moon Grapevines, native to Ytvía in southern Jælondis. The vast majority of its varieties come from the countries of Keqallía and Daqún, particularly the hills of Illakía where extensive magic crystal veins are found beneath the surface and the arcane energies emanating from them give the grapes and vine their unique characteristics.
There are several varieties of moon wine, identified by both coloration, temporary effects on the arcane abilities and senses of those who drink them and -to lesser extent- intensity of the flavour and luminescence. The magical effects on people differs between species and individuals, ranging from being able to sense magic more intensely or with different senses than usual, to being able to cast more powerful spells and even lose control over ones arcane ability.
The main varieties of moon mine are:Pale blue wine comes from northern Keqallía.
Pale green wine is grown in northwestern Keqallía.
Silver wine is primarily produced in Daqún in southern Ytvía.
Turquoise wine is grown outside Illakía, in northern T'irús in central Keqallía.
In addition, some regions produce glittering kinds of moon vine which are made from sparkling grapes. They can be of any colour besides green.
Aside from its culinary use, moon wine crystallizes rather than turning into vinegar with age, forming either a solid chunk or a kind of sand depending on the variety. This material is one of the alchemical ingredients traditionally used to make pearl armour.
