Pre-Jælondic Goblinic Languages
Pre-Jælondic goblinic is a general term for the languages spoken by early Goblins during the period between the continent of Örkraz splitting from the Southlands and drifting towards the equator on one hand, and their eventual migration across the sea to Jælondis on the other.
During this time, the languages of the different goblinids aside from those ancestral to modern goblins gradually died out as their speakers succumbed to environmental pressures or -later on- conflicts with early Orcs as the latter expanded into the lowlands of Örkraz. Eventually, only one goblin species survived by moving into the isolated wetlands on the northern continent. Another notable change to the Pre-Jælondic goblinic languages was the adoption of various new technologies and survival strategies and resulting changes in vocabulary, such as the domestication of Giant Rats and the use of fish hooks and boats.
The appearance of early ophid societies in the region, who were better adapted to life in the swamps than the goblins, forced the latter to rely more on marine resources and build boats suitable for the open sea, until finally a handful of tribes, guided by a shaman's vision, left Örkraz for good and eventually landed in southeastern Jælondis. All modern goblinic languages can be traced the ones spoken by these voyagers, as the rest were outcompeted by the ophids.
