First Owner's Letter
The First recorded Asteroid Owner's Letter is on display at the Star & Dragon Yacht Club. This letter is composed of a granite-like rock. The original miner thought the sparkling nature of the rock might be magical and recorded his ownership. Soon after, he found that, while uncommon (where would granite come from in an asteroid belt?), the asteroid was essentially worthless other than as potential proof that the best is composed of former planetary composition.
The letter is a tourist attraction and an educational tool. Schools teach the history of the letter and asteroid to remind students of the possibilities that nothing may be so insignificant to not warrant investigation. Or should at least be preserved for future generations to ponder and explore.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
It's a rock! But, it carries the same types of markings that current Asteroid Owner's Letters carry today. The asteroid itself was mined while the owner was alive and has been kept intact since, again according to his will.
Significance
This is the actual first recorded Asteroid Owner's Letter and has been preserved since first ownership. When the owner died, his will stated that this document would be held in trust until it could be displayed in a public place. The letter sat in trust for decades until the Star & Dragon Yacht Club provided a safe place for the letter to be displayed and agreed to fun in perpetuity.
