Obsidian Strand
Geography
Approximately 75 miles of black and grey sand beach bordered by the delta of the "Mpoha Hig" Beginnings River to the southeast and jutting out gently into the bay till it curves back and reaches the edge of the coniferous forest to the northwest beneath the great Wychu Paniaufew "Forefather Mountains". It is relatively flat for the entire stretch, with only minor fluctuations to elevation.
The strand of beach sits at the end of a long bay, which helps to slow and diminish storms coming in from the ocean to the southwest. There is not much in terms of a barrier for strong winds and rains to carry themselves further inland, raising the salinity of the farmland that sits behind the beach for a good ways inland. This requires tough adaptable plants, and coastal druids try to maintain the precarious balance of nature in the region.
Fauna & Flora
Birds one might find here include varieties of puffin and loon, in addition to murllets and oystercatchers.
A traveler can also spot pods of orca and humpback whales as they migrate through the bay, as well as various sea lions, seals, and walrus. Of note are also sea otters, which can be found breaking clam shells and swimming in small family groups.
Tourism
This stretch of pristine beach is broken up by the occasional fishing village and town, each of which draws many crowds in the warmer months that wish to walk or ride the beach. Families and individuals might save up for months to come see the beaches and migrations of birds and mammals. It is however most common among the aristocracy of Umenor, as they are the most likely to have the time to take vacations though they can be joined by wealthy merchant families and wandering travelers of all sorts.
