Anshumat Vyas Yagyesh (Ahn-shu-maat Vee-as Ja-jesh)
Anshumat is the Western Dragonlord of Cambrium. He is the first non-dragon entity in Cambrium history to ever take the title of Dragonlord, however it is believed that he absorbed the essence or soul of a dragon, which gave him the ability to rise to such a lofty height. Similarly, many members of the Divine Horde believe that Anshumat has a divine aspect within him that allows him to be immortal and invulnerable, like a deity. Whether or not such rumours are true remain to be seen.
Anshumat is considered the 'youngest' Dragonlord, in that he is the most recent to take power from the previous Western Dragonlord. Because of this, the other Chapters of Cambrium consider him a wild card at best and an aggressive enemy at worst. Such fears grow from the sudden and aggressive expansion of his Chapter's territory, spilling into areas once claimed by the North and South Dragonlords and narrowing their territorial claims. Because of this, natives from the Western Chapter are viewed with suspicion when travelling abroad.
Anshumat often comes across as an intense and stern individual on first meeting. He tends not to say much, instead taking the opportunity to observe someone new to better understand how they tick, and use that information to his advantage. However, while most tend to assume brutal warlords like himself have shallow emotional intelligence, such is far from the truth - Anshumat is an inquisitive, curious person that enjoys learning. He has no illusion that he knows everything there is to know, and so is always open to being taught or even just understanding a concept that he might not know already. He laughs, he cries, he gets angry, solemn, introspective; Anshumat is capable of a full range of emotions that does not seem to affect his role as Khan. Instead he believes it makes him a better leader because he can understand the plights of his people.
However, that does not mean he outwardly expresses his emotions often. He is a stony-faced warrior, not willing to give up any of his inner thoughts to his enemies to be used against him. But to his spouses, concubines and thralls they are perhaps the only that get to see the 'softer' side of the Dragonlord. This emotional intelligence does not prevent him from being a ruthless battlemaster though, and is capable and willing to slaughter his enemy without mercy, as well as enacting cruel and unusual punishments to those that cross the Divine Horde.
As well as being an excellent fighter, intelligent warlord and empathetic ruler, Anshumat is also a powerful spellcaster. Most often his spells take the form of raging infernos or blasts of golden divine light, which help to cement many of the rumours and legends about him. His signature weapon, a greataxe called Hordesplitter, is infused with a portion of his power that allows him to use it as a spellcasting focus.
