IOGen Labs

Introduction

The dominant biological research and pharmaceutical company in Candrid, spearheading innovations in genetics, healthcare technologies and of course, bioweaponry... IOGen has a monopoly on the world's medical industry, through predatory business practices, hostile acquisitions and even violence to get their way.
IOGen pioneered the creation of Candrid's first orbital hospital, fully synthetic people, and the first militarised rapid response teams to cater to a violent world, among other, less savoury endeavours

Origins

IOGen began as a humble community pharmacy in the south end of Aeon CIty, a family owned business that saw the opportunity to manufacture and supply medicines brought in from far off places to serve locals at an affordable price. Something desperately needed in the wake of the 4th War.
The Carthwright family were doctors and alchemists in their own right, formerly from Port Callier, they moved to Onari to escape the constant attacks on the city, immediately finding their place among Onari's people.
The opportunity for growth came in the form of funding from the new Paragon Bank, something desperately needed to match the rising demand not only for medication and potions, but for medical care. With the assistance, the pharmacy was able to expand into a clinic, then a hospital. Before long they had opened a second location in Northern Aeon CIty, then in smaller towns on the east coast. Training was funded, and medicine branched off into medical research, but the small chain of clinics only became IOGen Labs when the first research facility opened on the outskirts of Aeon CIty. A purpose build location for the development and manufacturing of brand new products and technologies to help the people of Onari, and the world at large.
The rapid growth turned their focus from simple care to profit driven services. Insurance, critical care, rapid response training and the like, but their parent, Paragon, had other plans in mind as well, and a massive investment was made into genetic technology. New facilities in remote locations, a massive cash injection and a list of objectives.
Two departments became most prominent in IOGen; the first focused on maintaining casualty and patient care in an increasingly violent world, forming their own security forces and budgets for military grade hardware, and the second focused on innovation and development of new technologies.
The first result was dynamic gene therapy, an innovative technology that was capable of stabilising the genetic makeup of Half Breeds to prevent developmental disorders. The second, was far more controversial.
The invention of the Biosynth presented countless questions about morality, the limitations of science and the value of a living being, but it did nothing to stop the massive purchase of clones by Paragon for their own purposes, then the other corporations as well, having them serve as disposable workers in dangerous conditions, soldiers and, in a far less serious sense, caretakers in the place of Machines
But relations grew strained, and it all came to a head in 2052, where the partnership with Paragon came to explosive halt, only a few years before the launch of their debut orbital hospital and medical shuttles
