The Last Air Elementalist

A.K.A. The Pied Piper

TO THE GUILD AND BACK AGAIN

Affectionately known as Junior to his family, Tobias Leafellow II is the son of Tobias and Ambrica Leafellow. He hails from Seraphim Point far to the north of Capacia where his father owns one of the most renowned pipeleaf farms in all the land.   At age 12 Tobias Jr left home to pursue his love of nature and the elements. He enrolled with the Elemental Guild training program, and spent the next 5 years of his life in intense study. It was here that Tobias Jr realized his proclivity for music and his ability to bend the elements to his will through song. He flourished at the guild with his unique abilities, and graduated 3rd in his class. Thus he was dubbed The Pied Piper.   Upon graduation he immigrated to Merdhal, a southern port city controlled by the Khandrat Hegemony. Here he worked as a fisherman, and made extra coin by being a thorn in the side of the local warden Balgug Ironfist (ie. committed petty crimes with the Merdhal Underground). He spent a year here before moving back to Seraphim Point at age 18.   Upon arrival, he was shunned by the city because the Holy Coven of the Seraphim perceived his powers as an affront to the Exalted One. Though not barred from the city, Tobias Jr was unable to interact with the townsfolk in any meaningful way since their mistrust in him was high. He was left to help his father tend the farm during the fallow time.  

TREASURE, ADVENTURE, AND SECLUSION

Later that year an expedition to the Crystal Caverns stopped by Seraphim Point for supplies. Seeing an opportunity to get back out on his own, Tobias Jr offered his services to the expedition. Here he met Gorche the Vagabond, an unsightly yet exceedingly charismatic, orc. The expedition's goal was to locate and mine a rumored vein of magical ore in the caves, and while the expedition did not complete its goal, Tobias Jr and Gorche became great friends. Both took a chunk of raw corundum, a sapphire by Tobias Jr and a ruby by Gorche, for their efforts. Gorche headed back to his homeland with his moderate spoils, and Tobias Jr resigned himself to more time at the farm.   A few months later Tobias Jr received a carrier pigeon from the Elemental Guild. He had been assigned the task of defending the Ambassador for the Wizard's College. He accompanied Corvath Kullmaja, the Wizard's College's Ambassador, to the Old World Accords. Here they met with the Tantalus Syndicate. This job offered Tobias Jr a large sum of money, and as a special request he had the College enchant his raw sapphire. Because of how well it went, the College also bestowed the honorary title of "Trusted Companion" on him permanently.   With the success of the Old World Accords, Tobias Jr was thrust into the limelight of the Tantalus Syndicate. Though he was appreciative of their adoration, he decided to distance himself from them for the time being. They had too many enemies, and he did not want to risk his future by going all in with such a divisive group.   Instead, he spent the next near decade exploring the wilds to build a deeper bond with the elemental spirits. On his travels he began researching the Aurora Destructivus. The myth and mystery surrounding this event had always interested him, but now he felt as if the spirits were guiding him to learn more. He made it his life's ambition to discover the truth of what happened that fateful day and to interact with the elements that contributed to or were affected by the cataclysm.

Back tattoo of the Elemental Guild's symbol. It is the 4 elements combined in harmony.

Walks with a constant skip-like pep in his step. Quite clumsy.

Special abilities

Only known wielder of the elements that uses music to channel the power.

Apparel & Accessories

Owns a performance outfit that looks very much like the circus body builder leotard/onesie. It's a shimmering blue color, and is the only outfit worn that shows off the elemental tattoo.

Specialized Equipment

Owns a mottled red flute named Tetra. It was made from the clay of the Seraphim Mud Pits.

Singer/Ware Hawker


When your troupe is in need of money, roll+CHA and tell what you are offering. On a 10+, the crowd loves your song/wares and throws money at you. Roll 1d6 and collect 10x that number in currency from the audience. On a 7-9, roll 1d6 and collect 5x that number in currency from the audience, but you also draw unwanted attention. On a miss, the people hate your song/wares and rob you.




Class Skills


Elemental Composition


When you use your instrument to summon the primal spirits of air, earth, fire, or water to perform a task for you, roll+CON. On a 10+, choose two from the list below. On a 7-9, choose one:


  • The effect you desire comes to pass.
  • You avoid paying nature's price.
  • You retain control.

On a miss, some catastrophe occurs as a result of your calling.




Melodic Animation


When you use your instrument to summon an elemental being, choose a mundane elemental source at hand and roll+CON. On a 10+, you create a golem under your control, made out of this element, and you hold 3 control over it. On a 7-9, either you create a golem made of out this and element and you have 1 control over it, or you have 2 control over it and choose one:


  • The Golem is hostile and will resent you later.
  • The golem is made out of a different element, the GM will tell you which.

You can only control one golem at a time. As long as you have control over your golem, you can use your golem moves and command it to take simple actions. When you spend all your control, your golem acts on its own, and has hit points equal to twice your level.




Golem Attack


When you command your golem to attack, roll+Control. On a hit, it does what you want, but on a 7-9, you also lose 1 control. Your golem deals 1d8 damage.




Golem Protection


When your golem takes damage, you lose 1 control and the damage is negated.




Vox Arcanus


When you perform a magnificent song, choose an ally and one effect:


  • Their mind is shaken clear of one enchantment.
  • They get +1d4 damage the next time they deal damage.
  • They get +2 instead of +1 the next time they receive aid.
  • They heal 1d8 damage.

Then roll+CHA. On a hit, your ally gets the selected effect, but on a 7-9, you also draw unwanted attention or your magic reverberates to other targets, affecting them as well (GM's Choice).




Eldritch Tones


Requires: Vox Arcanus

Your arcane art is strong, allowing you to choose two effects instead of one.

You are no longer harmed by the touch of fire, nor are you vulnerable to heat
