Confidence Trickster

The Old West was full of crafty characters who traveled from town to town bilking the unwary out of their money. Medicine showmen put on shows of music, magic, and humor as an excuse to hawk their amazing cure-all tonics (often cough syrup or sarsaparilla spiked with whiskey).

Sellers of questionable goods and confidence scammers are other possibilities. Many of the shenanigans of television’s Maverick brothers dealt with land and mine swindles, and a good number of those tricksters were female.
