Catopian Kingdom

The Catopian Kingdom was the ruling government of Catopia before the Meow Order took power and transformed the state into the Catopian Empire. The kingdom has its roots in the late 1400s when several Felid states united into one kingdom under the first Meoudens ruler, Furflufle the Great. This consolidation was followed by rapid growth made the new country into a major galactic power under the Meoudens. Under this dynasty, the kingdom established holdings in the northern outer rim in the 1500s, but they later lost these due to financial reasons and conquest by Nintendo Sector countries. However, the Catopians were successful in expanding their colonies and possessions in the east and other places in the outer rim. New Catopia and later New Katia were established There were several changes in dynasties throughout the Catopian Kingdom’s existence, but the kingdom persisted. Over time, the monarchs gave more power to the people, but they still had significant power in the government until the kingdom was officially abolished and the Catopian Empire was formed.

History

In 1478, Furflufle the Great became the first ruler of a united Catopian Kingdom. Under their rule, Furflufle and the Meouden dynasty expanded the new country internally and its outside influence throughout the next few centuries. Kittyotia and part of Ayoshima were added to the growing nation. A few wars were also fought with Meowza to secure Catopia’s position as a major power in the region. Conflicts over territory were also common. This created a rivalry between the two major Mew Sector powers. However, the two powers traded significantly in peacetime. A few colonies were established in the northwest and north outer rim in the 1500s. However, these colonies and settlements were mostly lost in the following century due to competition and conflict from Nintendo powers.   In 1742, the Meoupumas Dynasty took power. Under them, Catopia acquired a large part of Katia and parts of Siamesei in the 1810s and 1770s respectively. The territories of New Catopia and New Katia were also established in the northeast Mid Rim and Outer Rim. In the late 19th century, the Catopian Kingdom became more aggressive under a line of more authoritarian rulers. These monarchs also consolidated more power over the people and took away some democratic reforms previously implemented. Economic divides started to severe, and Catopia suffered under oppressive leadership.   The militaristic expansionist policies were very ineffective and disastrous for the country. First, the military occupied the recently annexed Cato. They were then weakened by various guerrilla groups resisting the occupation. Catopia then tried to take over the rest of Katia along with annexing Purro, but Meowza came to the nations’ aid. They formed an alliance with Katia and Purro along with other Mew Sector countries threatened by Catopian aggression. This caused the Great Mew War, which was a disastrous defeat for Catopia and caused the Catopian Decaember Revolution. King Gatoso III was overthrown in 1905, ending the reign of the Meoupumas.   A new royal family, the Guepaws were elected into power. In their reign, Catopia greatly expanded. The territories in the northeast experienced significant growth. By this time, Ayoshima became a semi-autonomous dominion incorporated into the kingdom. The Guepaws also incorporated many new democratic reforms, but they still held a lot of power. After LBF solidified its position in the Ligera band, the Catopian Kingdom established good relations with the new galactic power. As LBF’s influence expanded and democracy spread in the late 20th century, many Catopians wanted more democratic reforms.   In 1998, the InterNintendo War erupted and greatly disrupted trade through the region. The Catopian Kingdom had favorable trade agreements for the routes to the northeast colonies passing through the Nintendo Sector. Therefore, trade between the mainland and colonies was greatly affected by the Nintendo Sector conflict. Catopia joined the war on the side of the United Powers. This move backfired on the Guepaws however, as the Imperial powers succeeded at taking over the D.K. States and the Republic of Kirby by invasion. Catopia also took heavy casualties. The Imperial Powers now completely blocked off the Nintendo Routes to the northeastern colonies. This caused a massive economic decline in Catopia and especially in its northeast possessions. The Kingdom’s people rebelled in Mason’s Revolution and ousted the Guepaws with the monarchy as a whole.

Disbandment

The people were angry about the economic crisis and the Guepaws’ support of a war Catopia was losing. Economic inequality and instability in the outer rim had been problems, but the crisis had made it a lot worse. Many people participated in Mason’s Revolution and it overthrew the monarchy. The Guepaw family was forced abdicate and fled into exile. Mason and the Meow Order replaced them and created the Catopian Empire.
