Summer Camp 2022

Motivation

I still remember my first Summer Camp. It was the one in 2019 and was the first competition I did on WA. It was amazing, the hype for the start of the Summer Camp in my chapter was incredible and, even if I did 10 prompts, I was impressed at the progress I did to my world.

Year later, right before Summer Camp, a lot of people joined the spanish channel and I made great friends (and one even became my boyfriend), and had again a great time during Summer Camp!

Last year, 2021, my friends at the spanish channel and the chapter and worldbuilding was basically what kept me sane (work pretty much sucks) but made me had a great time each time I wrote and spoke with my friends!

THIS YEAR. I am very hyped once again for Summer Camp, easily my favourite challenge in WA (sorry TJ, WE is second on the list).

Creative Goal

Three years ago, for Summer Camp 2020, I created a world, Iphars. Each of the Summer Camps since then, I've been working on a continent of this world and thus developing Branul and Emea. This year I'm once again working on a new contintent, this time it's gonna be Izura, a big archipelago that has been shattered after the dawn of magic.

Challenge Goal

I don't have a real goal for Summer Camp other than expanding the world. I like to try writing all the prompts to expand the world in ways I wouldn't have though of. I will be happy with any amount of prompts finished with but diamond would be nice if i can.

Themes

Expanse

Since last couple of years, a pandemic has affecting Izura. Brought by the Melgent, it is not a pandemic with a single condition but a couple of them have been expanding around Izura.

Leadership

After the dawn of magic, the leadership in the islands (each island used to have a family on power and they would call themselves clans) have become unstable and a lot of changes happened. As of right now, no family in power feels safe and with the new territories, new families raise to power in places that was assumed to be part of other families territories. Lots of conflict is going on in the islands and tension could be cut with a knife.

Discovery

Izura got hit pretty hard by the dawn of magic, its territory got broken in pieces and some new islands appeared out of the nowhere. Its people, between all the other problems, are exploring these new islands and reconquering the broken parts of their islands.

Monstrous

Animals are in chaos, angry and scared, monsters have appeared from the nowhere and call caves and deep forests their homes. Somehow, the dawn of magic seems to have caused mythological creatures that never existed to now exist in these islands.

Some people also turned into monsters metaforically (and some literally) as new powers and territories make them do whatever is needed to win riches, territories, or other things.

Mini-Meta

I've always had a hard time having a meta or inspirational things for Iphars as its a month that changes constantly because I get random new ideas that I really want in it.

Iphars theme is a magical world with "old" technology (such as roman). Or so I say because to be honest I haven't spoken too much about Iphars' technology. It is tho, a magical world that is changing and slightly being corrupted by magic.

My goals for Iphars is to have fun, I don't have other plans with Iphars. And about inspirational things? I've added an article I wrote about two summercamps ago with such stuff. Haven't changed that much even tho I can't stop changing this world.

Schedule

A schedule? Now that's hard for me. Summer time is when I work and I still don't even have my work schedule which tends to be somewhat chaotic. In theory, this summer I'll work in the evenings most of the days, and because I'm not a morning person, this doesn't give me a lot of time to write.

Usually, I tend to write small notes while working (don't tell my boss) and afterwards I'll expand them. I always hope to be able to write a bit each day but realisitcally I tend to write on my free day.

Support

Being in the WA's discord for a bunch of years have helped me find friends, important people that support me and believe in me even when I don't. Specifically, these groups are the lodge and the ohana. They are all amazing beans and great writers and I love them very very much. I also tend to be a lot on the spanish channel on the discord and try to be in the cookies chapter (my chapter if it wasn't obvious :P).

Between all these amazing beans I found a friend that ended up turning to be my boyfriend and this year he will try participate the Summer Camp so I'm very excited.

The afterwards

By now, Summer Camp is over, and I am exhausted. In the end I got 16 prompts done, got my silver badge to use to kill monsters! I was hoping to get diamond but with work, I ended up too exhausted to write in the end of the days so I decided to relax (after my friends basically screaming at me) and didn't try to push more. I was very excited for the monsters prompts all the month but... well, work. But FEAR NOT, cuz i noted down the ideas I had and I plan to write them at some point or another.

Most of the articles (if not all) are just me rambling my ideas and will need some editing but I attempted to make them not too bad.

I have a lot of plans for writing be it Daeliha, Iphars, Khulgran, or some new hidden worlds that I may or not be working on (or trying). So feel free to follow the worlds if you might be interested on them! I also have a lot of drawings and maps planned to do.

As last note, even tho its not less important than other things, I am trying to slowly read thru the conditions article from the Unofficial condition challenge and while I can't promise that I will finish by the end of the months, worry not, I did not forget about that thing.

Oh yeah I guess there's also the reading challenge. I'm not sure if I'll be able to do so...
